GRAPHIC DESIGN AND MARKETING INTERN | New York, NY / Panajachel, Guatemala
non-profit retail brand
During Summer/Fall 2018 I was a graphic design and marketing intern for the non-profit retail brand Mercado Global. Mercado Global is a Brooklyn-based accessory brand and non-profit that empowers rural Latin American women to become entrepreneurs. Through donor-funded business education and leadership programs, Mercado helps women create community businesses to support themselves and their families. By designing collections for the international market while using traditional local weaving techniques, they are changing the status quo for women, communities, and the industry. The nature of most of the work done during this internship was confidential, but I am showing a selection of the permissible examples.
One of my first projects was the design of new images for the Gift Card option on the website. I selected and edited the photos used for the backgrounds as well as designing the actual components.
I was responsible for all of the photographic editing of content that accompanied more than 7 collection releases including: Spring/Summer 2018, Fall/Winter 2018, Home 2018, the Corazon Collection, Resort 2019, Spring/Summer 2019, and Home 2019.
I also was responsible for the design of the majority of the email campaigns distributed during the time period I was an inter. I also created a series of automatic email series that customers received when they subscribed or made a purchase. This included a birthday, discount, best sellers, and testimonial email.
